Poetry

"Some people react physically to the magic of poetry, to the moments, that is, of the communication, the sharing at the highest level....A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it." –
Dylan Thomas (1913-1943)

"Poetry is a passage into those parts of our being where we understand who we have been and where we discover and decide who and what we will be. It makes us intimate with ourselves and others and with the human experience. It stirs the divine within us and whispers all the things there are no words for, and this is essential to bring balance and dimension to the human expression.
Poetry is the most honest and immediate art form that I have found, it is raw and unfiltered. It is vital, creative expression and deserves to find greater forums, to be more highly valued, understood, and utilised in our culture and our lives. There is such wonderful poetry in the world that wants to be given voice. My hope is to help and inspire an appreciation and expression of that voice". –
Jewel (A night without armor) 1998.

I will be sharing my poems with you shortly. In the meantime here is a taster.

My Everest

Oh Great Mountain
With your head up in the clouds
How magnificent you look
From down here on the ground

How massive is your aura
Your power beyond belief
Tell me oh Great Mountain
Can I climb up in your teeth

Many tried before me
Sadly to their avail
How many bodies lie there
Frozen in your veil

As the weather beats around you
Do you really care
About the tiny mortals
Far beneath your stare

Tell me oh Great Mountain
As I climb your hair
Will my god protect me
From your mighty glare

And, my greatest challenge
When I reach the top
Will your arms embrace me
Loving me or not.
